3,600 venues in 142 countries, ranked by an algorithm reading millions of visitor data points

MUNICH, Oct. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Worth a Journey has chosen its 36 lists of the world's 100 best places for 2026 from more than one million venues analyzed.

"We have one mission: find the places that are truly worth a journey," says editor-in-chief Jakob Schwichtenberg. "The world has enough popularity contests and enough lists only critics appreciate. We rank the places that amaze the people who actually go."

The 36 N° 1 venues are in 22 countries on five continents. Among the surprises: a pizzeria in Hastings, England, beats every pizzeria in Italy; Edinburgh takes the top spots for both ramen and coffee; and a kebab shop in Karlsruhe, Germany, ranks first worldwide.

Frankie Ruffolo and Francesca Elia, who founded the Hastings pizzeria Monellis, say: "To see our tiny pizzeria recognised on a global stage is something we could never have imagined."

Unlike traditional travel awards, Worth a Journey does not accept nominations, applications, or payments for inclusion. Rankings come from visitor reviews read by language models, scored with confidence intervals and anchored by in-person visits.
