The Zhitong Finance App learned that on Tuesday, General Motors (GM.US) moved high, up more than 6% as of press release. According to the news, GM plans to move its stock listing from the New York Stock Exchange to the NASDAQ Global Select Market, a move aimed at positioning the traditional automaker as a technology frontier company embracing autonomous driving and electric vehicles. GM is actively embracing technology amid growing competition from emerging electric vehicle manufacturers, after hosting an event in New York to showcase upcoming electric vehicle models equipped with advanced driver assistance and battery technology.

According to a statement issued by it, GM shares will begin trading on NASDAQ on November 17, and will continue to use the “GM” stock symbol at that time. GM indicated that the new listing location made it potentially eligible for inclusion in the Nasdaq 100 Index.

GM Chief Financial Officer Paul Jacobson said in a statement, citing the company's “technology-driven strategy,” that as GM developed, NASDAQ “naturally became the ideal place for us to go public.”
