The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a regular press conference. In response to Tsai Kang-yong's recent social media post that “we have not supported 'Taiwan independence, '” Spokesman Chen Binhua said in response to questions that maintaining the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity is the common obligation of all Chinese people, including Taiwan compatriots. We have always respected and guaranteed the proper freedom of speech and expression of our Taiwanese compatriots, but there is no room for ambiguity on the big and small issues relating to the country's sovereignty, security, and development interests. We hope that Taiwanese entertainers will take pride in being decent Chinese and do more things conducive to enhancing the family ties between the two sides of the Strait and promoting cross-strait exchanges and cooperation. He said that we always welcome the vast majority of Taiwanese compatriots to visit the mainland, visit family and friends, and visit and exchange. As always, we support entertainers from both sides of the Strait to strengthen exchanges and cooperation, share the cross-strait cultural market, and inherit Chinese culture together.
