02:51 AM EDT, 10/28/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Idorsia (IDIA.SW) launched a late-stage study to evaluate lucerastat in Fabry disease and signed a co-development and commercialization deal for the investigational drug with Nxera Pharma. Under the Fab-Klear phase 3 study, lucerastat will be assessed as a potential disease-modifying therapy to target kidney manifestations of Fabry disease in adult patients, the Swiss biotech company said Wednesday. Nxera will pay Idorsia 7 million francs for exclusive development and commercialization rights in Japan and selected Asia Pacific territories, excluding China, while Idorsia will be eligible to receive royalties on net sales in the licensed territories. The study, which is aligned with the US Food and Drug Administration's practices, is designed to confirm lucerastat's ability to reduce renal globotriaosylceramide accumulation. The broader phase 3 program, Fabswitch, will evaluate lucerastat against standard-of-care enzyme replacement therapies. The study supports a regulatory filing as early as 2029.
