The Zhitong Finance App learned that on October 28, Nomura Holdings (NMR.US) announced results for the second fiscal quarter (July-September) of the 2026/27 fiscal year ending September 2026: net revenue of 607.5 billion yen (about 3.9 billion US dollars), up 18% year on year; net profit to mother was 103.7 billion yen (about 659 million US dollars), up 13% year on year and down 29% month on month.
The cumulative net profit for the first half of the fiscal year was 249.3 billion yen, up 27% year on year; profit before tax was 359.5 billion yen, up 21% year on year, and the total profit before tax of the four major business divisions increased 50%. The ROE for the first half of the fiscal year was 13.3%, and the dividend for the second fiscal quarter was 35 yen per share.
By business, wealth management is the biggest highlight: net revenue of 141.5 billion yen, up 22% year over year, and profit before tax of 65.6 billion yen, a sharp increase of 44%. As the all-round asset management business gained momentum, the net inflow of recurring revenue assets reached a record high of approximately 750 billion yen. Recurring revenue also reached a record high, with recurring revenue cost coverage rising to 79%.”
The banking sector's profit before tax was 4.4 billion yen, an increase of 37% over the previous year. However, on a month-on-month basis, various businesses generally declined from the record level in the first quarter: the pre-tax profit of the wholesale sector was 46.1 billion yen, down 51% from the previous month, down 13% year on year, and the investment bank's net revenue increased by 26% year on year, partly hedging the slowdown in global market business; the investment management department's profit before tax was 27.4 billion yen, down 11% year on year.
Management said that the results of the transformation were reflected in the revenue structure. “Stable revenue” increased by about 60% year-on-year in the first half of the fiscal year, reflecting the continued expansion of the asset management business. The company will continue to strengthen its revenue base by further diversifying revenue sources from the wholesale business.
In the Tokyo market, Nomura's stock price closed at 1,441.5 yen on the same day, rising slightly by 0.17%, and the market reaction was lackluster. Nomura Holdings' US stock closed slightly higher by 1.33% at $9.11.
