06:28 AM EDT, 10/28/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Rio Tinto Group (RIO.L) proposed to increase Chief Executive Officer Simon Trott's target pay package by 56% in 2027, London's Financial Times reported Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter. The mining giant is also reportedly seeking shareholder approval to raise long-term incentives to nine times salary from the current five times to help secure top talent, with the bonus increases expected to be staggered over three years. The proposals would take Trott's target pay to 10 million pounds sterling and could potentially reach more than 18 million pounds for high performance, the sources added. Rio Tinto did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires. (Market Chatter news is derived from conversations with market professionals globally.
