10:27 AM EDT, 10/28/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The British government will ask the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets to scrap gas standing charges and transfer them to unit rates, Chancellor of the Exchequer John Healey confirmed in his first budget statement on Wednesday. The government will lay out targeted mitigation in due course.
