If you had been weighing Doximity against other healthcare software options in late October 2025 and chosen to sit it out, the next twelve months looked very different to what bullish and bearish analysts were debating. For Doximity shareholders, the loss over the past year was 50.0%, including dividends. With that result now on the table, which early warning in the reliance on pharma advertising or regulatory pressure would you examine first?
The move put Doximity in the middle of this trade. Scan 34 healthcare AI stocks for other companies exposed to it.
The shares cost US$68.5 at the start of the period, and anyone looking at Doximity then was really choosing between two well argued stories about what came next.
The bullish camp saw a digital healthcare platform extending its lead. Their Fair Value of US$80, treated as the price implied if their thesis played out, leaned on workflow modules growing at over 100% a year and rising AI tool usage to support higher margin SaaS revenue.
The bearish case anchored on pressure from rules and rivals. Its Fair Value of US$50.42 baked in tighter data privacy regulation that could raise compliance costs and limit data driven advertising, along with the risk that integrated health IT platforms would encourage clients to shift budgets away from Doximity.
Doximity’s Q1 2027 figures gave bulls fresh support on usage but raised questions on the profit story. Revenue reached US$156.6 million compared with US$145.9 million a year earlier, yet net income slipped to US$24.3 million from US$53.3 million and net margin moved from 36.5% to 15.5%. That mix cut both ways for the original theses.
The hinge assumption here was that AI and workflow tools would lift earnings power, not just activity. For any other software stock, it is important to track whether new products show up in both the top line and the margin line, not just in press releases.
Doximity now trades at US$33.24 after a 50.0% loss over the past year. The selected Narrative places its Fair Value above that level, framing today’s quote as pricing Doximity more like a mature cash generator than a high-growth AI platform.
That view leans on AI tools, pharma mix shift and buybacks. A buyer today would need to believe that converting clinician usage of AI products into higher contribution enterprise and pharma spend will more than offset sustained AI compute and stock-based compensation costs.
"The main thing that has to go right is that Doximity converts rising clinician usage of its AI and workflow products, together with a more stable pharma budget backdrop and strong SMB pharma bookings, into durable enterprise and pharma spending that outweighs higher AI compute and stock-based compensation costs."
That disagreement has a full argument behind it. → Uncover the higher Fair Value this Narrative argues for
