12:41 PM EDT, 10/28/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Entain (ENT.L) expects higher UK gambling taxes to add 25 million pounds sterling in annual costs to its UK and Ireland retail business before mitigation measures. The British sports betting and gambling group said Wednesday that it plans to offset the impact by the end of 2028 through "estate rationalization, group-wide optimization initiatives and potential market share gains." Entain noted that it was "disappointed" by the decision to raise the machine gaming duty to 25% from April 2027, which adds pressure to an "already highly taxed" industry.
