01:03 PM EDT, 10/28/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Eni (ENI.MI) restarted production at Junín-5, a supergiant onshore heavy oil field in Venezuela's Orinoco Belt containing 35 billion barrels of certified oil in place. Aside from its role as sole operator, the Italian energy company will also handle technical, financial and commercial management, according to a Wednesday release. The development plan includes restoring abandoned wells and an intensive drilling campaign for new ones.
