What Grupo Cibest Shareholders Got Right
Share
Listen to the news

Nequi’s push toward breakeven and five-fold loan growth gave Grupo Cibest a very specific story to trade, long before Q2 2026 showed higher revenue and a wider net margin on the record. For Grupo Cibest shareholders, the return over the past year was 47.4%, including dividends. If you had been weighing a purchase back in October 2025, how confident would you have been that digital banking economics could actually sustain numbers like these?

Grupo Cibest has already moved. See which of 195 high quality undervalued stocks still trade below our estimates.

The Two Stories Grupo Cibest Investors Had To Choose Between

The shares cost COP61,180 at the start of the period, and anyone looking at Grupo Cibest then was really choosing between two very different stories.

The bullish view saw Nequi and digital platforms reshaping the bank, with a Fair Value of COP168,638, a notional price implied by assumptions such as 15.1% annual revenue growth and a future P/E of 33.3x.

The more cautious narrative pointed to macro and competitive risks, with a Fair Value of COP57,045 and concerns that profit margins could decline toward 20.7% even if revenue grew 14.1% a year.

What The Results Changed For Grupo Cibest

The clearest new fact was the Q2 2026 report. Grupo Cibest recorded revenue of COP7,384,517 million and net income of COP2,816,097 million, with net margin at 38.1% versus 28.7% a year earlier. That combination of higher sales, higher profit, and a wider margin leaned toward the optimistic case that Nequi economics could support stronger profitability.

The lesson for your watchlist is simple. When a thesis depends on digital units lifting profitability, track segment or group net margin over time and compare it directly with the original revenue growth and P/E assumptions you are being asked to underwrite.

What The Recent Run In Grupo Cibest Already Prices In

Grupo Cibest now trades at COP88,400, and the selected Narrative’s Fair Value sits below that level. The gap reflects a view that a lot of Nequi driven digital earnings strength and capital return is already embedded in the quote.

A buyer today is effectively assuming Nequi, Wompi, Wenia and Central America keep lifting group returns. The selected Narrative asks how that assumption holds up if higher rates, credit costs or Colombia specific pressures do not move in line with those expectations.

"The main condition for this thesis is that Nequi, Wompi, Wenia and the Central American operations continue to deliver cost to income improvements and ROE levels in line with the group’s recent guidance, while Colombia’s macro, tax and regulatory pressures remain manageable."
