On a per-share basis, the El Dorado, Arkansas-based company said it had net income of $9.59.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $8.09 per share.

The gasoline station operator posted revenue of $6.89 billion in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $6.11 billion.
