The Denver-based company said it had net income of $1.19 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were 83 cents per share.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 95 cents per share.

The oil and natural gas producer posted revenue of $1.56 billion in the period, which also missed Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.59 billion.

Antero Resources shares have risen 22% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $42.11, a rise of 32% in the last 12 months.
