12:53 AM EDT, 10/29/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Rio Tinto Group (RIO.L) launched the Fénix 1B expansion and Sal de Vida operation in Catamarca, Argentina. The projects, with a combined investment of $1.4 billion, will add 25,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent capacity annually once fully operational, according to a Thursday release. The mining giant added that both projects achieved first production ahead of schedule in the second quarter of 2026.
