The Zhitong Finance App learned that Goldman Sachs released a research report stating that it will raise the 12-month target price of Standard Chartered Group (02888) to HK$290 to maintain a “buy” rating. Standard Chartered Group performed strongly in the third quarter, with profit before tax being 13% higher than market expectations, mainly due to record performance in the Wealth Solutions business, strong global market business, and a significant decline in credit impairment.

Management raised the FY2026 net interest income growth guide to a year-on-year increase of about 4%, implied net interest income of about US$11.63 billion; at the same time, it raised the 2026 return on tangible shareholders' equity (ROTE) forecast to about 14%, mainly supported by continued balance sheet growth and positive operating leverage.

Goldman Sachs pointed out that the bank's earnings forecast for Standard Chartered Group's 2026-2028 earnings per share remained largely unchanged, as revenue growth was offset by increased growth investment and taxes. However, its profit forecast is still 3% to 4% higher than market expectations.
