On a per-share basis, the St. Helier, Jersey-based company said it had a loss of 9 cents.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 21 cents per share.

The oncology drug developer posted revenue of $193.4 million in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $183.3 million.

NovoCure expects full-year revenue in the range of $736 million to $743 million.
