Live Love Ride's Alentejo cycling experience earns Gold overall and Silver for service, recognizing a journey shaped by local knowledge and a team with deep roots in the region.
LISBON, Portugal, Oct. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Live Love Ride has received two honors at the 2026 Travel Weekly Magellan Awards for its "Alentejo Cycling Experience: A Boutique Slow Travel Journey in Portugal":
Gold – Tour Operators, Overall
Silver – Tour Operators, Service
Behind the award-winning experience is a local Portuguese team with deep roots in the Alentejo. Members of the team who design and operate the journey were born and raised in the region, bringing guests into a landscape, culture and community they have known throughout their lives.
"We don't just operate a tour in the Alentejo. This is home for members of our team," said Pedro Rocha, founder of Live Love Ride. "They know these roads, these villages and the people behind many of the places we visit. They know where to stop for coffee, which road has the best view and the little details you simply don't get from researching a destination."
"That's what we want to give our guests: a way into the inner circle. You're not just looking at the Alentejo from the outside. For a week, we're inviting you into our world."
The award-winning Alentejo Heritage & Wine Country Bike Tour is a seven-day journey through one of Portugal's most distinctive regions.
Beginning in the medieval hilltop village of Marvão, cyclists travel through cork oak forests, olive groves, vineyards and historic towns including Castelo de Vide, Estremoz, Monsaraz and Évora.
Daily rides of approximately 45 to 80 kilometers are combined with Alentejo cuisine and wines, distinctive accommodations, local producers and cultural experiences.
"Winning Gold is fantastic, but receiving Silver for service means just as much to us," Rocha said. "The landscape brings people here, but it's our team, our guides and the local people we work with who turn a cycling trip into something guests remember."
The experience is available as a self-guided journey, privately guided tour or on selected scheduled group departures.
