XRP (CRYPTO: XRP), Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH), Solana (CRYPTO: SOL), and BNB (CRYPTO: BNB) remain four of the five top altcoins in the market, according to prominent cryptocurrency analyst CryptosRUs.
George, as the analyst goes by his real name, told the Milk Road Crypto podcast Wednesday that he previously followed a 50-25-25 allocation rule, splitting portfolios between Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC), large-cap altcoins and smaller speculative tokens.
He’s since shifted away from that, arguing the sheer number of tokens now competing for the same liquidity pool makes broad altcoin exposure far less reliable than during the 2017 or 2021 cycles.
Hyperliquid as measured by Hyperliquid Strategies (NASDAQ:PURR) completes his list of the top five altcoins.
George says all five share heavy institutional interest, strong user metrics and real utility.
He pointed to Tom Lee’s Ethereum accumulation strategy and growing ETF demand as reasons institutions are taking Ethereum, Solana and XRP more seriously than before.
George said Solana leads Ethereum in daily transactions, daily volume and revenue, even though it remains roughly 60% below its all-time high.
The only metric where Ethereum still leads is total value locked, largely because stablecoins and liquidity pools remain concentrated there.
He called Solana’s recent Alpenglow upgrade a meaningful step toward making the network more suitable for fast financial transactions.
George said Hyperliquid’s biggest edge over competitors comes down to liquidity depth, which keeps slippage low for large trades in a way most decentralized exchanges historically couldn’t match.
He pointed to Phantom generating more than $20 million in fees in its first year by building perpetual trading on top of Hyperliquid’s infrastructure as proof of the platform’s flywheel effect.
He also flagged reported CFTC interest in bringing Hyperliquid into the U.S. regulatory framework as a meaningful signal of its staying power.
Hyperliquid on Thursday announced a partnership with Intercontinental Exchange to bring perpetual futures to the United States.
Bitcoin’s historical four-year cycle tied to halving events will likely continue, George said, though he argued the real driver has always been liquidity flow rather than the halving itself.
Every prior cycle peak has lined up with a US election year, a pattern he attributes to broader liquidity and business cycle timing rather than coincidence.
His price target: Bitcoin reaching $250,000 to $300,000 by 2030, roughly a 3x from current levels, with his five altcoin picks potentially delivering 5x to 10x returns given their smaller market caps.
George said leverage trading remains one of the biggest threats to retail investors in any bull run, noting research suggests only about 2% of traders using leverage actually come out ahead over time.
