Why Is HubSpot Stock Falling on Thursday?

Listen to the news

HubSpot Inc. (NYSE:HUBS) shares are trading lower on Thursday as enterprise software stocks drop across the market.

The downward movement followed third-quarter financial results from ServiceNow Inc. (NYSE:NOW), which raised valuation concerns for peer companies.

Sector sentiment faced further pressure after third-quarter financial results from Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) weighed on the broader technology space.

Upcoming Earnings

The downturn reflects broader market caution ahead of the company’s third-quarter earnings announcement on Nov. 4. Consensus estimates project HubSpot to report earnings of $3.27 per share, up from $2.66 per share in the prior-year period.

Revenue estimates stand at $924.57 million, an increase from $809.52 million recorded a year earlier. The company currently trades at a valuation of 88.6 times earnings.

Wall Street Consensus

Wells Fargo maintained an Equal-Weight rating on HubSpot on Wednesday while raising its forecast to $250. Citigroup held a Neutral stance on Tuesday with an increased forecast of $287. On the same day, UBS downgraded the stock to Neutral, adjusting its forecast to $310.

According to Benzinga data, 26 analysts maintain a consensus Buy rating on HubSpot, comprising 11 Buy, 14 Hold and 1 Sell recommendations. The group holds an average consensus price forecast of $288, representing a potential upside of 21%.

Technical Analysis

From a trend perspective, HubSpot is sitting just above its intermediate moving averages, which makes this pullback feel more like a battle for trend control than a clean breakdown. The stock is trading 0.7% above its 20-day SMA ($236.40), 1.4% above its 50-day SMA ($234.77) and 2.2% above its 200-day SMA ($232.79), while holding 7.7% above the 100-day SMA ($221.01).

The bigger-picture backdrop is still mixed after a steep 12-month drawdown of 46.59%, so rallies have tended to face supply faster than in a clean bull trend. The golden cross in October (50-day SMA above the 200-day SMA) is constructive longer term, but the stock still needs to prove it can hold above the 200-day area on weakness.

  • Key Resistance: $252.50 — a nearby ceiling where rebounds can stall, and a logical "next test" area if the stock can reclaim its short-term averages.
  • Key Support: $190 — a prior demand zone that stands out as the more meaningful downside reference if the current moving-average cluster fails.

HUBS Stock Price Activity: HubSpot shares are trading lower by 4.43% at $237.94 at the time of publication on Thursday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
