Stephens: Chipotle delivered mixed third-quarter results, with comps ahead of expectations and transactions growing for a third straight quarter, Salera said in a note. However, restaurant-level margins of 23.3% missed the 23.8% consensus.

The company reported adjusted earnings of 27 cents per share, below the 29-cent consensus, with promotional and marketing support weighing on the bottom line. "We view 2027 as a prove-it year and want visibility into sustained traffic growth before getting more constructive," Salera added.

DA Davidson: Chipotle’s same-store sales grew 2.1%, with trends rebounding from a mid-July industrywide slowdown, Curtis said. He added that same-store sales growth accelerated to 3.8% in September.

Although same-store sales growth softened in early October, the analyst noted that traffic had already returned to positive territory. Management’s fourth-quarter guidance of 2% same-store sales growth has upside. Sales trends are likely to improve in November and December, driven by the return of Smoked Brisket on November 5 and a sequential increase in marketing spend, he added.

BTIG: Chipotle Mexican Grill’s higher-than-expected same-store sales was "driven by 0.8% of positive traffic and 2.7% of price," Saleh said. He noted that trends softened in July due to food safety headlines but improved in August and September.

Management said September comps were up 3.8%, with lower-income consumer traffic outperforming higher-income traffic for the first time in 2026, the analyst noted. "Despite broad industry weakness over the past month, Chipotle reiterated its outlook of low single-digit same-store sales," he further wrote.

CMG Price Action: Chipotle Mexican Grill shares rose 9.05% to $31.38 at the time of publication on Thursday.
