Equinix (EQIX) Stock Jumps As Q3 Earnings Lift Cash Flow Outlook
Share
Listen to the news

Equinix just released its Q3 2026 scorecard and the market liked what it saw. The stock closed up 2.9% today to about US$1,036, a solid move for a data center real estate investment trust after an earnings report.

The focus is not basic earnings per share. The main story is recurring cash generation. Adjusted funds from operations, the core yardstick for a REIT, increased alongside a roughly 51% adjusted EBITDA margin and updated guidance that calls for higher full year revenue and cash flow. The price action reflects enthusiasm, and the numbers indicate that investors are responding to those metrics rather than reacting only to the headline move.

Equinix’s AI And Power Upside On Trial

Belief in Equinix hinges on turning AI demand and scarce power into richer recurring cash flows rather than just higher volume.

"Control of roughly 3 GW of designed power, with about 600 MW under some form of development and an expected 1 GW under production by early next year, positions Equinix to convert power constrained market demand into incremental rental revenue and cash flow over time."

Q3 points in that direction. Double digit MRR growth, 10% interconnection revenue growth and 24% Fabric revenue growth, plus a 51.4% adjusted EBITDA margin and raised AFFO guidance, all suggest that monetization of higher density demand is starting to come through.

Execution, Cost And Permitting Risks Under The Microscope

The bear case questions whether Equinix can actually build and fill this pipeline under real world power and cost constraints.

"Supply side constraints such as limited grid capacity, higher build costs linked to scarce skilled labor and more complex planning requirements could restrict Equinix from deploying its planned development pipeline on time, which would weigh on revenue growth and delay the contribution of new capacity to earnings and cash flow."

Recent numbers lean against that worry but do not remove it. Retail cabinet deliveries are tracking about 40% above plan, Q3 capex of roughly US$1.6b supports capacity adds and 48 projects across 32 markets plus bespoke power deals indicate active risk management rather than visible execution shortfalls so far.

Hunt For Mispriced Cash Engines

Equinix just showed how a single quarter can reset expectations on cash generation and capital plans. The real opportunity is spotting stocks that could be undervalued before the market reworks the story.

  • Company 1 - 46% below our estimate - uses an AI driven recommendation engine to decide content order and match it with advertising inventory.
  • Company 2 - 40% below our estimate - grows a coconut based drinks platform as retailers expand both branded and private label shelf space.
  • Company 3 - 26% below our estimate - scales a digital bank that turns rising customer numbers into a lean, low cost financial services platform.
