05:08 AM EDT, 10/30/2026 (MT Newswires) -- BP (BP.L) shares rose on Friday as higher refining margins and energy prices boosted the company's third-quarter profit. Attributable profit for the three months ended Sept. 30 surged to $4.7 billion from $1.16 billion a year earlier, while total revenue and other income climbed to $69.88 billion from $49.25 billion, the London-listed oil and gas major said in its earnings release. Underlying replacement cost profit came in at $8.46 billion, up from $2.21 billion a year ago. The company's shares were up more than 1% during early trading in London. "We maintained upstream production at around 2.2 million barrels per day, upstream plant reliability and refining availability both improved compared to the previous quarter, and our trading performance was also higher," Chief Executive Meg O'Neill said. "This has generated a strong set of results, supported by the higher-price, higher-margin environment and some good progress on performance improvement across the business," she added. Looking ahead, the company expects upstream production of between 2.1 million barrels of oil equivalent per day and 2.2 million boe/d during the fourth quarter. It expects full-year upstream production to be between 2.2 million boe/d and 2.3 million boe/d, compared with 2.3 million boe/d a year ago. BP plans to update investors on its strategy and outlook on Dec. 15. The company's board also increased the interim dividend to $0.0866 per share from $0.0832 per share paid previously.
