The Zhitong Finance App learned that Liu Yangwei, chairman of Foxconn, the world's largest electronics foundry, said on Friday that the company is discussing new cooperation with OpenAI, the leading US developer of artificial intelligence, and the relevant details will be announced to the public after confirmation. Liu Yangwei told reporters at the company's annual technology presentation that he had met with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman earlier in the day, but did not reveal any further information. At the same time, he made it clear that there is no bubble in the AI industry, and Foxconn expects to maintain double-digit growth next year.

If the cooperation is reached, it will be extended on the basis of the agreement between the two companies last year — the two parties previously agreed to cooperate on the design and engineering of data center cabinets, components, and other AI hardware.

Foxconn, officially known as Hon Hai Precision Industries, is Nvidia's largest AI server manufacturer, and is increasingly dependent on the AI infrastructure business to drive growth.

Recently, the market is worried that against the backdrop of rising borrowing costs, it is difficult to sustain huge investment in the AI industry, and AI sector stocks have suffered a severe setback as a result. In response, Liu Yangwei said that there is no bubble in the industry, and Foxconn expects to maintain double-digit growth next year.

Liu Yangwei said that Foxconn has six factories in Houston, Texas, to produce AI servers for Nvidia, and believes further expansion is necessary.

The company said in August that the cloud and network product business, including AI servers, accounted for 51% of its second-quarter revenue, surpassing 50% for the first time.

Houston factory deploys humanoid robots

Additionally, Foxconn's plans to deploy humanoid robots at the Houston plant are progressing.

Zheng Hongmeng, chairman of Foxconn's Industries' Futures Federation, said on Friday that more than 10 humanoid robots have been deployed in the Texas factory for internal operations. He added that Foxconn plans to expand the deployment beyond Texas.

According to reports, demonstration materials show that IFF launched two wheeled robots in October: one can lift items vertically and the other can be bent at the waist for assembly and handling tasks.

The subsidiary is developing AI models for humanoid robots based on the Nvidia GR00T basic model.
