10:36 AM EDT, 10/30/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Virgin Media O2, or VMO2, is close to reaching a deal to use rival BT Group's (BT-A.L) Openreach network, London's Financial Times reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter. The deal would allow VMO2, a 50/50 joint venture between Telefónica (TEF.MC) and Liberty Global, to use Openreach in areas not covered by its existing network, the report said. Sources added that the broadband company is also pausing plans to upgrade its cable network to fiber as part of a wider cost-cutting program. VMO2 and BT Group had no comment when reached by MT Newswires. (Market Chatter news is derived from conversations with market professionals globally.
