Verra Mobility’s shares are very volatile and have had 22 moves greater than 5% over the last year. But moves this big are rare even for Verra Mobility and indicate this news significantly impacted the market’s perception of the business.
The previous big move we wrote about was 28 days ago when the stock dropped 2.8% on the news that the company announced the appointment of Jon Newhard as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective November 1, 2026. The company highlighted Newhard's more than two decades of leadership experience in transportation and mobility. Prior to his appointment at Verra Mobility, Newhard served as Chief Executive Officer of Yunex Traffic GmbH. Executive transitions at the chief executive officer level can create uncertainty for investors regarding corporate strategy and operational execution as new management assumes leadership of the company.
Verra Mobility is down 87.8% since the beginning of the year, and at $2.74 per share, it is trading 88.4% below its 52-week high of $23.49 from October 2025. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of Verra Mobility’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at only $175.77.
