Mondelez International just dropped its Q3 2026 scorecard and the stock did not hesitate. Shares jumped 3.9% to about US$64.94, a swift repricing for a snacks giant that reported roughly US$10.0b in quarterly sales and basic earnings per share of US$1.02.
That one day burst appears driven less by surprise and more by a relief rally around profitability. Trailing net margin is reported at about 10.2%, and management is again talking up strong earnings per share growth for 2027. The market is treating this as confirmation that recent profit strength is not a fluke.

Management keeps stressing “strong EPS growth” in 2027 despite cost risks. Ask Charlie what’s really behind Mondelez’s 2027 EPS confidence.
The optimistic story argues that Mondelez can keep pouring money into brands and reach while still growing earnings over time.
"The main factor that has to go right is that Mondelez International successfully executes its reinvestment in emerging markets, brand building, and supply chain productivity so that higher advertising and conflict related costs translate into durable volume and margin gains."
Q3 points in the right direction. Revenue rose about 2.3% year on year while net income and EPS grew much faster, which implies better profitability even as management kept advertising and consumer spending elevated. Volume and mix were positive in several regions, and productivity programs plus lower cocoa costs helped lift gross profit dollars and support that reinvestment posture.
The bear side worries that heavier spending collides with weaker demand and leaves Mondelez with pressured earnings rather than durable growth.
"Earlier weakness in North America linked to retailer destocking and softer demand among lower income households has given way to stronger channel performance and share gains. However, if this improvement reverses while Mondelez International continues to reinvest upside into advertising and consumer spending, earnings could come under pressure even if revenue holds up."
Current numbers lean against that concern for now. North America is described as delivering share gains and stronger performance helped by more targeted promotions. Company wide, net margin on a trailing basis sits at about 10.2%, slightly above the prior year. Q3 profitability therefore improved rather than compressed despite the ongoing ad and consumer spend.
