Granules India did not move on headlines alone. Investors who held Granules India over the past year are up 48.8%, including dividends. If you had been weighing whether to buy on 30 October 2025, you were looking at a business investing heavily in APIs, complex generics and peptide CDMO, along with a sharp divide between bullish and bearish analyst targets. The real question now is what those buyers thought would justify taking that risk before any new results arrived.
The easy part of this move is behind Granules India. Zero in on 199 high quality undervalued stocks for companies trading below our estimates.
The shares cost ₹575 at the start of the period, and anyone looking at Granules India then had to choose between two sharply different stories about where the business might be heading.
In the bullish script, analysts pinned a Fair Value of ₹700, effectively the price implied if expansion into oncology, peptides and CDMO translated into 17.6% revenue growth and profit margins rising toward 13.0% over about three years.
The cautious view pointed to a Fair Value of ₹480 and focused on risks that peptide CDMO capacity could stay underused. In addition, higher leverage and ongoing regulatory and environmental costs might keep returns and future P/E closer to 18.4x than the optimistic camp expected.
The clearest development came from Granules India's Q1 2027 report. Revenue reached ₹14,767.74m and net income came in at ₹1,799.63m, up from ₹12,101.06m and ₹1,126.36m in Q1 2026. Net margin moved from 9.3% to 12.2%. That pattern aligned with the more optimistic case, which assumed stronger profitability from new capacity.
The useful takeaway is about testable assumptions. When a thesis depends on margin expansion, you can track reported net margin and absolute profit each quarter and assess whether they are moving toward the targets set out in the original investment story.
Granules India now trades at ₹840 after a 48.8% gain over the past year. The selected Narrative places its Fair Value below that level, implying the current quotation already bakes in a relatively optimistic read on execution.
The Narrative focuses on cost pressure, remediation spend and peptide CDMO volatility as the key variables. Anyone paying today is effectively relying on complex generics and peptide CDMO translating into steadier margins, even if those specific risks do not fully ease.
"Although Granules India is increasing the share of complex generics in its finished dosages and channeling higher R&D toward CNS, oncology and other high barrier products, persistent cost inflation in raw materials, packing inputs and freight could erode the margin uplift that richer mix is expected to deliver. This may keep net margins closer to current levels rather than expanding as many models assume."
