AGCO stock closed at US$110.91, up 2.9% on the day, as traders leaned into the Q3 2026 release. The move signals relief, yet the numbers tell a tougher story. Net sales came in at about US$2.3b with adjusted operating margin at 6.1%, which is thin for heavy farm equipment, where multi-year cycles and capital intensity matter. For anyone thinking beyond this quarter, the real question is how that margin pressure and a 7% full-year adjusted operating margin guide line up with the longer-term earnings forecasts and the current P/E of 27.4x.
Concerned that AGCO’s thin 6.1% operating margin and 7% full-year guide leave too little cushion for a capital heavy business? Earnings tell one story for AGCO, but investors who care about what the business can actually return over time often focus on the cash flowing through the system. Cash generation can paint a very different picture of what you are paying for.
Looking at AGCO's cash flows and how they support the current share price, the data suggest the stock could be a dramatic 32% undervalued.
The upbeat view rests on AGCO turning PTx, FarmerCore and parts into a higher margin engine rather than just riding an equipment rebound.
"The main thing that has to go right is that PTx and the FarmerCore and aftermarket model together keep shifting AGCO’s mix toward higher margin, more recurring parts, service and retrofit precision ag revenue while the Reimagine cost program delivers more than US$200m of SG&A savings by the end of 2026."
Q3 shows partial progress. PTx remains a sizable high gross margin contributor and AGCO is still spending about 5% of sales on engineering, yet group adjusted operating margin sits at 6.1% and full year guidance is about 7%, far from the mid teens ambition. Project Reimagine is tracking to a range of US$60 to US$70m of savings in 2026, which is a tangible but early step versus the US$200m goal.

Bearish investors argue AGCO’s execution gap is widening rather than closing.
"Although AGCO is investing heavily in its PTx precision agriculture platform with a goal to reach about US$2b of mid cycle revenue at mid to high 20% operating margins, the recent cut to 2026 net sales and EPS guidance after a 1% net sales decline and a 170 basis point margin compression in Q2 2026 suggests the required acceleration may not materialise. This could leave future revenue and earnings below what is currently implied."
Q3 does little to ease that concern. Net sales fell 8.6%, adjusted operating margin sits at 6.1%, and full year guidance is now US$9.8 to US$10.0b with EPS about US$5.50. Project Reimagine is only tracking US$60 to US$70m of 2026 savings against a US$200m goal, so the margin catch up story remains largely unproven.
AGCO results show how headline sales and margin guidance can obscure shifting execution quality. The real opportunity could sit in companies where changing business models may not yet be fully reflected in valuations.
