Baxter International stock slipped 2.1% to about US$23 after releasing Q3 2026 results, extending a weak 3 month stretch for the shares. The headline story looks very different from that price move. The medical products group just posted roughly US$3.0b in quarterly revenue with adjusted earnings per share of about US$0.58 and lifted full year organic sales and EPS guidance.
Short term traders see a tired chart. Long term investors see a healthcare supplier trying to turn years of losses and a stretched balance sheet into a cleaner, cash focused story over the next few years.

Earnings are one thing, but investors who care about what a business is really worth focus on the cash that hits the bank account over time. Baxter International's income statement has been noisy, yet on cash flows alone the stock could be a dramatic 33% undervalued.
The upbeat case depends on Baxter International turning process work into real progress.
"The main thing that has to go right is that Baxter International continues to execute its operational turnaround and deleveraging plan, including margin improvement, free cash flow generation and progress toward approximately 3x net leverage by year-end 2026, while managing ongoing product and supply constraints."
Q3 shows pieces of that plan landing. Organic revenue grew 5%, yet adjusted operating margin slipped to 14.5%, so profitability is not improving yet. Free cash flow above US$700m year to date and US$864m of debt retired support the deleveraging target. The raised 2026 EPS and sales guidance reinforces that execution progress, even as quality issues and injectables pressure keep the margin part of the promise incomplete.

The bearish worry is that Baxter International fixes sales while earnings power lags. That concern centers on product and earnings drag from pharma and related services.
"Ongoing supply constraints in injectables and inhaled anesthesia tied to contract manufacturer challenges and internal site issues point to a multi-year drag on pharmaceutical segment revenue and associated gross profit while these problems are worked through."
Q3 confirms the strain. Injectables revenue fell about 3%, adjusted gross margin slipped to 38.3% and adjusted operating margin eased to 14.5%. Raised 2026 guidance helps, yet the FDA warning letter, cephalosporin exit and 2027 TSA roll-off keep this risk very much alive.
Baxter International shows how operational repair and guidance can diverge from a flat share price. The real opportunity is finding stocks that could be undervalued before the market corrects them.
