Acerinox (BME:ACX) Stock Price Shrugs Off Q3 Earnings Rebound
Share
Listen to the news

Acerinox walked into its Q3 2026 release with a rich 34.8x P/E and a stock that had slipped roughly 11% over the past three months. Expectations were high. The company then put €1.6b of revenue and €85m of net income on the table for the quarter, solid numbers for a stainless producer under scrutiny.

Yet the share price closed at €16.07 on the day, barely rewarding a business that has rebuilt earnings over the last year while still carrying debt and cash flow questions that make every quarter feel like a referendum on the story.

Love Acerinox's rebuilt earnings profile but concerned that debt and cash flow questions keep hanging over the story each quarter? Take a look at our list of solid balance sheet and fundamentals stocks (199 results).

Q3 2026 Earnings Summary

  • Revenue (Q3 2026 vs Q3 2025): €1,591 million vs. €1,415 million (up about 12.4%)
  • Net Income (Excl. Extra Items, Q3 2026 vs Q3 2025): €85 million vs. €25 million (up about 240%)
  • Basic EPS (Q3 2026 vs Q3 2025): €0.341 vs. €0.100 (up about 240%)
  • Trailing 12-Month Net Income (Excl. Extra Items, to Q3 2026 vs to Q3 2025): €114.926 million vs. €69.946 million (up about 64.3%)

Earnings are one thing, but investors who care about valuation usually follow the cash that actually moves through Acerinox's business. Profit can look clean on paper, while free cash flow tells a tougher or more supportive story.

Focus only on Acerinox's cash flows, and the valuation model suggests the stock could be a solid 18% undervalued.

Acerinox Bull Story Meets Margin Reality

Bulls argue Acerinox’s US heavy footprint and self help plan can steadily lift profitability even if demand stays muted.

"The Beyond Excellence operational program, targeted to add €120 million of EBITDA by 2026 with €29 million already achieved, together with €16 million of realized HPA synergies toward a €23 million annual target, underpins a structural cost and efficiency improvement that can support margins even in periods of subdued demand."

Q3 EBITDA of €199m and a roughly 12.5% margin, plus 46% EBITDA growth over the first nine months, indicate this margin story is progressing. North America carries the improvement, while Europe and Columbus still look like unfinished work rather than fully de risked profit engines.

Acerinox Bear Case: Expansion Risk Still Unresolved

Bears worry Acerinox is loading fixed costs into projects that may not earn their keep if end markets stay patchy.

"Large expansion projects in North American stainless, VDM and Columbus, and the planned HPA investments in Kokomo and Kentucky, are framed as contributors to an EBITDA upside of €300m. If demand in key sectors like oil and gas and chemical process industries stays weak, these higher fixed costs could dilute returns and constrain future earnings."

Q3 gives partial backing to that concern. North America delivered healthy EBITDA, yet Columbus remains pressured and VDM is only near breakeven. Q3 operating cash flow turned slightly negative and net debt climbed to about €1.5b.

Hunt For Mispriced Earnings Stories

Acerinox just showed how a solid earnings print can still leave investors debating the story. The real opportunity could be in spotting stocks that look undervalued before sentiment and valuation move closer together.

  • Company 1 - 37% below our estimate - targets a fragmented mattress market as dealers formalize and online channels deepen direct-to-consumer reach.
  • Company 2 - 21% below our estimate - builds a delivery platform where low online penetration and subscriptions lift order frequency and monetization.
  • Company 3 - 28% below our estimate - expands digital financial services that convert rising engagement and underpenetrated credit demand into fee income and lending opportunities.

That is three of the list. See the full list of 197 companies trading below our fair value estimates →
