01:24 AM EST, 11/02/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Fitch revised its outlook on France's A+ long-term issuer default rating to negative from stable, citing fiscal and economic deterioration since its August review. In an Oct. 30 note, the rating agency said France's debt dynamics have worsened due to weaker growth, higher borrowing costs, and a wider deficit. Fitch also listed persistent political fragmentation and a challenging social backdrop as hurdles to sustained fiscal consolidation. Fitch affirmed the A+ rating on France, citing the country's large and diversified economy and strong banking sector, and the external financial support provided by eurozone membership.
