Northwood Ravin demolished a dated Charlotte public library in order to make way for a 300-unit apartment development. The Charlotte Business Journal reports the plan is to include 21,400 square feet of retail as well. The 4.5-acre south-end property is at 101 Scaleybark Road.

The retail component is part of a larger mixed-use development that encompasses 36.4 acres at the northeast corner of South Boulevard and Scaleybark Road. Formerly called Crosland Greens, the entire development is expected to include more than 1.6 million square feet of office, retail, restaurant, multifamily and single-family residential use as well as public green space.

The project’s first phase, The Sloan, opened its doors last year. That apartment community at 120 Hollis Road has 368 units. The market-rate apartments range in monthly rent from $1,689 for a studio to $3,325 for a three-bedroom.
