On a per-share basis, the San Jose, California-based company said it had profit of 16 cents. Earnings, adjusted for stock option expense, were 44 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 42 cents per share.

The cloud, software platforms, systems and services provider for communications service providers posted revenue of $301.7 million in the period, falling short of Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $304.1 million.

For the current quarter ending in December, Calix expects its per-share earnings to range from 17 cents to 25 cents.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $311 million to $317 million for the fiscal fourth quarter.
