The over 1-gigawatt data center at the Drax Power Station estate in the north of England, UK, will be built in three phrases, with up to 100 megawatts to become operational in the first quarter of 2028 as part of the initial phase costing 2.5 billion pounds sterling. A Brookfield-Qai AI infrastructure joint venture will provide the investment capital, estimated at over 20 billion pounds in aggregate. Phase one is subject to planning approvals, the signing of a tenant for the project, negotiation of commercial agreements, and a final investment decision by all parties.
