V2X just dropped its Q3 2026 scorecard and the headline is clear. Adjusted diluted earnings per share climbed to US$1.64 on revenue of US$1.27b, with management lifting full year guidance across sales, profit and cash flow. Yet the stock slipped about 3% to US$80.82 after the release, giving back some of its recent run.
That gap between stronger earnings power and a red screen sets up a classic sentiment test. The market is fixating on short term worries, while the story on margins and backlog tells something very different.

V2X says its Q3 wins will lift margins into 2027. Ask Charlie what makes V2X’s new bookings margin accretive.
V2X bulls argue that the real upside comes from shifting toward higher margin, long duration contracts and tech heavy work rather than just growing the backlog.
"The main thing that has to go right is that V2X continues winning and executing higher margin, long duration defense and national security contracts while managing the operational complexity that comes with faster bid velocity and global deployments."
Q3 goes some way toward that goal. Revenue tied to national security activity reached about US$334m year to date, bookings hit roughly US$1.6b with a 1.2x book to bill, and total backlog is now US$12.8b. Management also describes those wins as margin accretive and raised full year guidance for revenue, adjusted EBITDA and adjusted EPS, which points to some early mix improvement rather than simple volume.

Bearish investors worry that V2X cannot replace shrinking Middle East work quickly enough with fresh, multi year programs elsewhere.
"While V2X points to strong year to date growth in revenue, EBITDA and EPS, the Q2 2026 quarterly book to bill of 0.5x and $600 million of bookings highlight a risk that multi year logistics, training and sustainment franchises may not replenish quickly enough to support future revenue once current backlog is worked down. This could weigh on medium term earnings power."
Q3 starts to counter that concern. Book to bill improved to 1.2x and bookings reached about US$1.6b, lifting backlog to US$12.8b. Even so, Middle East revenue still fell roughly 30% and Kuwait volume is tracking the expected ramp down, so regional concentration risk has not cleared yet.
V2X just showed how earnings momentum and share price can briefly move in different directions. The real opportunity could be spotting stocks that look misaligned before stronger fundamentals are fully reflected.
