The Phoenix-based company said it had profit of $3.28 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to $3.63 per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.86 per share.

The distributor of electronic components posted revenue of $10.72 billion in the period.

For the current quarter ending in December, Avnet expects its per-share earnings to range from $3.90 to $4.10.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $11.1 billion to $11.4 billion for the fiscal second quarter.

Avnet shares have increased 85% since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 84% in the last 12 months.
