The North Andover, Massachusetts-based company said it had profit of $4.34 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were $3.40 per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $3.15 per share.

The maker of valves for plumbing, heating and water needs posted revenue of $728 million in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $697.3 million.
