On a per-share basis, the Stamford, Connecticut-based company said it had a loss of 34 cents.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 21 cents per share.

The producer of titanium ore and titanium dioxide posted revenue of $827 million in the period, also falling short of Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $852.9 million.
